Well, we have hit another new low in the realm of social media. If already seen people killing each other over Facebook posts and Facebook fights, and now we have a politician suing Facebook for deactivating his account.
Attorney Majed Moughni is suing Facebook for taking down his account when he had been adding anywhere from 20 to 100 new friend each everyday. He had 1600 friends before Facebook shut down his page because he was triggering one of Facebook’s anti-spam mechanisms by adding too many friends to his profile. Maybe he should have read and followed the Facebook terms of use.
Mr. Moughni should have also been using a Facebook page instead of a Facebook user profile to build his list of followers for his political campaign. If you would’ve done this he would have been able to have an unlimited number of followers for his campaign. The difference is that if you have a Facebook fan page you can’t add friends like you can with the profile page. It is probably a bit easier to build a personal profile page than it is to build a fan or business page. It also probably takes a little bit of money to build your business page and a bit of online marketing experience to make it take off in a viral fashion.
Facebook Response
Facebook’s response is that he received warnings that he was adding friends to quickly for the system which was designed to prevent spammers and fake profiles from taking over the Facebook system.
Moughni said, “I had no chance without Facebook. They disorganized us in the middle of our campaign and we lost. Facebook took us off the market. They took us off the face of the earth. We don’t want a penny from Facebook. We just want Facebook to bring back our ability to communicate.”
It just shows you how much power Facebook currently has in the political realm, and also foreshadows the power it will have in years to come. We’ve also learned that lawyers will sue over just about anything. Watch the video below to see more detail on the story.

Facebook Adds Video and Previews To Comments
I have on several occasions thought it would be great to comment with a picture or even a video in Facebook, but it was not available to do until today. Now, when you comments and add a video URL, Facebook will automatically add a video player and a thumbnail of the video as a preview. If you add a link or an image, Facebook will pull in a thumbnail of the website that you are linking to in the comment stream.
For most users, this really won’t mean much, but if you are using Facebook to help your online business it can be very useful to add your own video into a common stream that may have thousands of people subscribed to it. Obviously, Facebook will surely have a way to combat video spammers that are putting their videos and everybody’s common stream, but if used wisely and in the right places, you can bring a lot of value to the people in the comment stream of Facebook.
