Essentials of Keyword Research

Hmmmm. Key word research….Why is it so important?  Just today I met with a Real Estate agent who is seriously looking at taking her website to the next level but one distinctive issue came up.  First, most people do not realize the work and care it takes to get their websites rankings up.  Second, they are not clear what special niche they represent in their industry.

I have said it a thousands times to web owners who have the money and the desire but do not have a clue what niche keywords (phrases) they will be going after.  Keyword phrases, that if researched properly can change everything for them when it comes to creating a successful journey towards high rankings.

So with out further ado I will share with you a few essential keyword strategies that will hopefully help you understand the importance of keyword and keyword phrase research.  Once you tackle the importance of keyword intelligence that is relevant to your niche you will be able to create super high relevancy that will aid your site visitors and gain site credibility.

1. Research Tools:  Google’s Keyword Tool is the main research program that will allow you to find the keywords and phrases that fit your niche.

2. Strength in Numbers:  Look for a fair amount of searches for certain phrases that target your niche so it will be worth your while to go after them.  But do realize and be realistic if you are going after a very specific and very competitive sector that you may have to really dial in your niche.  Again, really understand your niche and adjust accordingly.

3. Get Specific:  Hear me when I say this – “GET SPECIFIC” and look for keyword phrases.  For example, “Boise Home Foreclosures” would get high targeted traffic for your special niche - if it were foreclosures.

4.  Highly Relevant:  Make sure that your are considering highly relevant search terms.

5.  Develop a Resource:  Can the search phrase hold water and support the development of content that will be a valuable resource to site visitors?  Will it satisfy  the preliminary needs of the visitor?  Will it be worth linking to? and What I feel to be the most important end all – Will it act as a good sales or action cycle?

We will expand more on this subject later and look forward to you coming back for more posts and reviews.
